two different types?

The article appears to conflate two different classes of objects, the one proposed by Falcke and Reazzolla ("blitzar"-class Fast Radio Bursts), and the type studied by Thornton, Bailes et al. (unnamed type of FRB (Fast Radio Burst)) From examining the two papers, they seem to be coming to different conclusions as to the origination of their respective signals (Fast Radio Bursts). -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 04:34, 13 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Conflates model and object type

Fast radio bursts are the phenomenon and (at least for the moment) blitzar a potential explanation. So the redirect from Fast radio burst seems wrong. --Askmatl (talk) 05:56, 17 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Radio astronomer here, and I'm seriously confused why FRB redirects here (mainly because I've never heard of blitzars before, and they are one of literally dozens of models for what might be creating FRBs!!!). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.18.163.207 (talk) 09:15, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

FRB repeats suggest they are not blitzars

It only means that not all FRBs can be explained by simple model of blitzars. It is possible that most FRBs are coming from blitzars, and rest is coming from some other or related mechanism. I see no reason blitzars couldn't exist, and in fact they should exist. It is so strange we only tough about them recently, because idea seems very simple. Even if blitzars do not emit FRBs and some other mechanism (or mechanisms) explains all FRBs, blitzars can (and should) still exist around, and could produce some other observable effects. 81.6.34.246 (talk) 17:48, 19 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
