Nuri (company) → Bitwala – Company reverted to Bitwala brand in November 2023 after Nuri insolvency (August 2022). The operating entity is Bitwala GmbH (HRB 234888 B, Amtsgericht Charlottenburg). The Nuri name is no longer in use. Sourced from Reuters, Handelsblatt, and The Fintech Times. The existing redirect at Bitwala needs admin assistance to move over. Bad sourcing
[edit]Removed the crypto blogs and self-sources. What remains aren't very good sources either. Does Bitwala have actual mainstream notability? - David Gerard (talk) 13:31, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- My search of German media didn't find much and I doubt someone fluent in German would find much better.
- From Focus Money (magazine) - "Bitwala Banking Begins - German Customers Can Easily Buy Bitcoins" (German) - Looks like a press release though.
- From Handelsblatt - "Berlin, the cryptocurrency capital" (English) - Only three sentences though. Pajeet 💩 02:35, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
PR from a not-bank. What they actually and only do is making adverts for a white label solarisbank account. nothing else. --83.221.244.37 (talk) 05:20, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
Request: clarify current ownership/status of Nuri brand
[edit]| The user below has a request that an edit be made to Bitwala. That user has an actual or apparent conflict of interest. The requested edits backlog is very high. Please be extremely patient. There are currently 599 requests waiting for review. Please read the instructions for the parameters used by this template for accepting and declining them, and review the request below and make the edit if it is well sourced, neutral, and follows other Wikipedia guidelines and policies. |
Disclosure: I am assisting a person connected to Nuri Brand Assets GmbH / the current Nuri project. This is a conflict-of-interest edit request rather than a direct article edit.
Request: Please add one short clarification to the “Return as Bitwala (2023–present)” section. The article explains the Bitwala/Nuri/Bitwala history, but it does not mention that the Nuri brand/domain are no longer operated by Bitwala.
Suggested insertion after the first paragraph of “Return as Bitwala (2023–present)”:
- In June 2026, Bitwala stated that it had decided to part ways with the Nuri brand and domain, which it said would transition to new ownership and operate independently from Bitwala's organization and services.[1] As of June 2026, the Nuri website identified the current Nuri product as being provided by Nuri Brand Assets GmbH, a Berlin company whose public register record lists Cim Topal as managing director.[2][3]
References to add:
Rationale: This is a narrow factual clarification. It does not promote the new Nuri product and does not use the word “sold”, because the available public source says “transition to new ownership” rather than giving sale terms.
Small follow-up / redirect cleanup: If the requested clarification is accepted, please also consider retargeting the existing redirect Nuri (company) to the relevant section, e.g. Bitwala#Return as Bitwala (2023–present), rather than the top of the Bitwala article. The March 2026 move discussion said “The Nuri name is no longer in use”; Bitwala's June 2026 statement and the current Nuri website now show that the Nuri name is in use again under separate ownership. I am not asking for a standalone article to be restored in this request—only for the redirect/disambiguation path to lead readers to the most relevant up-to-date section if the article text is updated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-34746-32 (talk) 09:51, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
Request: review Nuri (company) redirect/restoration
[edit]Disclosure: I am connected to Nuri Brand Assets GmbH / the current Nuri project. This is a conflict-of-interest request; I am not editing the article or redirect directly.
Request: Please review whether Nuri (company) should remain a plain redirect to Bitwala, be retargeted to a more precise section, or eventually be restored/split into a standalone article.
Background: The March 2026 move discussion moved the page from Nuri (company) back to Bitwala on the stated basis that “The Nuri name is no longer in use.” Since then, Bitwala has published a page titled “Time to say goodbye: Nuri.com is no longer part of Bitwala”, stating that the Nuri brand and domain would transition to new ownership and operate independently from Bitwala's organization and services. The current Nuri website identifies Nuri as provided by Nuri Brand Assets GmbH.
Minimal requested action now: If editors accept the related factual clarification request above, please retarget Nuri (company) to Bitwala#Return as Bitwala (2023–present) so readers looking for Nuri land near the current-status explanation rather than at the top of the Bitwala article.
Possible later action: If independent secondary sources emerge covering the new Nuri relaunch or the brand/domain transfer, please consider whether Nuri (company) should be restored or split so it can cover both the 2021–2022 Nuri neobank history and the later independently operated Nuri brand. I understand that a standalone article likely requires stronger independent sourcing than the currently available company/primary sources.
