Proposed merge of List of sminthids into Birch mouse

[edit]

No need for two slightly disagreeing articles on same subject (are there e.g. 16 or 19 species?) Can easily be captured in one article. Fram (talk) 13:48, 9 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oppose- while birch mouse doesn't have much content (surprisingly little for a mammal family), the usual line for when a "list of species" table is overwhelming for an article is typically "more than 10". I'll try to expand this article today to make it less lopsided. (and it's 16 vs. 19 because the ASM lists 19, but my lists follow the WP:MAMMAL guidelines of taking the combination of the ASM- and IUCN-recognized species as they differe from MSW3, and the IUCN/MSW3 don't recognize 3 species that the ASM does. --PresN 15:39, 9 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Expanded this article quite a bit now; it's not a giant but it's a lot better than a single paragraph. --PresN 01:04, 10 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
