Self contradictory paragraph.

"The two most produced biplane designs were the 1913 British Avro 504 of which 11,303 were built, and the 1928 Soviet Polikarpov Po-2 of which over 20,000 were built, with the Po-2 being the direct replacement for the Soviet copy of the Avro 504. Both were widely used as trainers. The Antonov An-2 was very successful too, with more than 18,000 built."

Either the 2 most produced biplane designs were the Po-2 and the An-2, rather than the 504 and Po-2 as stated, or the numbers for the 504 or the An-2 are incorrect.

I, personally know nothing, but the respective wikipedia pages seem to confirm Po-2 20-33k, An-2 18k, 504 11k. ~2026-21854-56 (talk) 19:13, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Strutted monoplanes

I take issue with the phrase "Strut braced monoplanes were tried but none of them were successful" in the article. Surely the Cessna 152 and 172 are strut braced monoplanes, and both very successful? More could be named, of course. But I think the mentioned phrase needs rewording. Jan olieslagers (talk) 19:06, 7 September 2026 (UTC)

I agree! (See the first paragraph in Biplane#Advantages and disadvantages.)

The preceding sentence also needs some rewording because if it does contain some good information it is presently hidden from view! It says The extra drag from the wires was not enough to offset the aerodynamic disadvantages from having two airfoils interfering with each other however.. Dolphin (t) 20:20, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
