I propose merging Pyrogenic carbon capture and storage into Biochar carbon removal. I think both terms describe the same concept, but Biochar Carbon Removal is the more commonly used and easily understanable one. PYCCS may remain a relevan term in science and should thus be explained under Biochar Carbon Removal.Calidumpluviam (talk) 20:09, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

Negative emissions technology?
[edit]Please describe why this technology causes negative emissions. Carbon that is already been removed from the atmosphere is heated, which occurs through combustion. This releases carbon back into the atmosphere, which are positive emissions. Con-struct (talk) 09:45, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- This talk page isn't the right place for a technical discussion, I rather recommend the lecture of some of the key references on the subject matter.
- But two important aspects: biochar is not produced through combustion, but through pyrolysis.80-90% of the carbon is actually fixed, so process emissions are rather small. Feedstock is typically a waste biomass product that would otherwise decompose and release more carbon. Unsubstantiated subjective statement
[edit]The following text: "Biochar Carbon credits are considered by some to be the best type of Carbon credit as they increase economic viability of the companies claiming them, and biochar stays in soil for hundreds if not thousands of years, ensuring that carbon is locked away from the atmosphere" is highly subjective. The reference seems to be a company with a commercial interest which raises conflict of interest concerns. In addition, the reference link is defunct. Miningair (talk) 20:15, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
