[edit]I started this article when someone mentioned to me that it was unfortunate that data archives can go defunct. One way to tell the story is that this project got off to a hopeful start but then ended. It is not certain where the knowledge in this repository went or if it was lost. Apparently most data repositories have the fate of collecting data, going defunct, then there not being any obvious record of the resources which they collected.
I know nothing about this project or anyone involved with it. Searching Google I found no published oral history of this project and no of no way for wiki to tell its story except in the way that I started here. If anyone can share further published sources about this project then please do and feel free to summarize and cite them here in wiki. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:42, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
- The sustainability of scientific databases has been a well-known problem, widely discussed since the first decade of this century – but not yet solved.
