The short description

[edit]

User:Newystats, the rules at WP:SDCONTENT should "avoid time-specific adjectives like 'former'...", and should "avoid starting with an article (A, An, The) except when required for correct grammar and meaning". The short description "A former subtropical rainforest in New South Wales" violates both of these. Furthermore, remember that the English Wikipedia serves a global audience; I would expect that "New South Wales" goes totally unrecognized by nearly all non-Australian English speakers, so "Australia" needs to be in there. We are now at "Subtropical rainforest in New South Wales, Australia", which is 52 characters long, but WP:SD40 starts discouraging short descriptions on the basis of length once they exceed 40 characters; "New South Wales" seems less important than "subtropical", so it goes, leaving "Subtropical rainforest in Australia", which obeys all the rules. If you have further objections, please state them here so that we can resolve them without an edit war. — LucasBrown 06:10, 12 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
