Glaring omission

[edit]

Are we really going to ignore the obvious here?

Seriously? Jack Meihoffer (talk) 01:50, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Michelle Obama

[edit]

There seems to be a bit of an edit war on whether Michelle Obama should be on the list of Big Mike's.

Perhaps discussing here would be better than constantly reverting each other, no? 2603:6011:4502:A590:0:0:0:1010 (talk) 17:05, 29 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

There's no way that we're adding a conspiracy theory/meme as a nickname of a WP:BLP. There is no way that this would ever be appropriate for an encyclopedia. The only explanations for anybody adding it is WP:VAND or WP:CIR. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 17:48, 29 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is not a list of conspiracies, it is simply a list of people known as Big Mike. That part is accurate, the fact that is is being debated is proof of that fact. We clearly know she is commonly known as Big Mike. This is not a debate of her biological sex, it is a statement of fact that she is often called "Big Mike" in the public. 2603:6012:600:CC00:DD94:A067:5B08:E23 (talk) 02:28, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
WP:BLP. This "debate" is proof of nothing. Show proof in reliable sources or there is nothing to discuss. I will not humor this any further unless several are provided. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 02:50, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

This is not mean to prove if she is a man or a woman. It is simply meant to show that she is known in the public as "Big Mike". Just Google "Big Mike Michelle Obama" and you will get tens of thousands of hits.
People call her Big Mike. That is a simple fact. Jzzluver69broscope420 (talk) 03:03, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Again, There's no way that we're adding a conspiracy theory/meme as a nickname of a WP:BLP. Show reliable sources that call her this, not ones just covering these stupid internet forums and some social media circles. We care about mainstream, not some tweets. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 03:10, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I’m not sure how you missed this, but she has been called Big Mike on the Joe Rogan Show, which is as mainstream as it gets. (Redacted) https://youtube.com/watch?v=JeFcWT_Z8PU 119.234.9.157 (talk) 07:31, 21 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Per above, see WP:BLP. "She was called the name on Joe Rogan" is not sufficient enough for inclusion. Where is the evidence of WP:DUE weight? JeffSpaceman (talk) 12:49, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
This abosolutely should not be included, per WP:BLP. The CNN fake and the malicious perpetuation should be ignored as far as this article is concerned. Adding it would perpetuate the malicious nature of the fake video. Knitsey (talk) 14:23, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

The argument that "some people call her that, therefore we should include it" is totally spurious. Consider pretty well any prominent politician you can think of, and there will be things they are called by many people, but which would be completely unsuitable for including in a Wikipedia article.
