Article Needs Work
[edit]Hopefully, this article is now somewhat readable; that's what I set out to do for it. However, it needs a lot more work, and I hope others will contribute. Downstrike (talk) 12:48, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Merger proposal

- The result of this discussion was no consensus to merge because there is no evidence they are the same place Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 12:46, 13 May 2018 (UTC) (non-admin closure)
I propose that Bosor be merged into Bezer. I think that they are the same city with alternate spelling. The variation is likely caused by translation based on the pronunciation of Hebrew vs Greek languages. I found "Bezer" in the ESV & NIV of e.g. Joshua 20:8, so I'm slightly inclined to this spelling, though I'm open to discussion. --Quest for Truth (talk) 22:22, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- If you can find a reference by a biblical scholar who claims that they are definitely the same and makes no reference to other scholars who disagree, I'm all for it.Alephb (talk) 06:19, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Support merge; my feeling is that Alephb sets too high a bar there. Even if they are not the same place, it would be very reasonable to discuss two similar and similarly-named biblical transjordanian cities of refuge on the same page. If there were concerns, then Bosor could have its own section on the Bezer page, and the potential for a Hebrew/Greek translation differences discussed. Klbrain (talk) 11:34, 24 March 2018 (UTC)- The only reference one the current Bosor site is to 1 Macabcebees Chapter 5. The English versions I've been able to find have used "Bosor" at Deuterocanon-Apocrypha, New Advent, King James, revised standard but "Bezer near Elma" in an audio bible. Given the uncertainty here, I'm changing my position to weak oppose as I can't find enough evidence to link them. Klbrain (talk) 08:59, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
