All the gods are Jotunn, aren’t they?

[edit]

The theories section suggests that Odin’s killing of Ymir is an interfamilial murder because of Bestla— but all the gods are Jotnar, aren’t they? Jotunn is just what an unaligned god is called. I’m not super knowledgeable regarding the subject, so maybe I’m wrong. I’ve heard somewhere (not sure where) that historically there may be evidence of Jotnar such as Skadi and Surtr being worshipped, so it wouldn’t even be specific to mean gods who aren’t worshipped. I may be wrong, but I’m fairly certain scholars concluded that all the gods are Jotnar, it’s what they are, all the Aesir and Vanir and everyone else (eg. Skadi, Surtr, Sinmara, Farbauti, Gerdr, Beli, Thjalzi) share a “species” so to speak. (Sorry for the heavily Anglicized spellings, I couldn’t remember some of the proper spellings, so I figured it would be better to have them all Anglicized.)
