Q1: Why can't I add "rapper," "musician," "songwriter," or anything similar to the lead section?
A1: As per MOS:ROLEBIO, we only include positions in the lead section of Wikipedia articles if they are notable. This is not the case. We do mention Ben Shapiro's appearance in a rap music video in the article, however, we don't add this to the lead. Please see this discussion for more details.

The paragraph about a Muslim shooter in Canada is put under the Religion heading. It has zero to do with
his religious beliefs, and frankly, it is libelous. If a crazy man from Canada shoots 6 Muslims, he might well
read opponents of Islamofascism, and opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood. One might expect that. That reflects
nothing on Shapiro's beliefs whatsoever. It is also a distortion. Jews are much more likely to be targets of
religious hate crimes, and Muslims... just as a fact. And that ALSO has nothing to do with Shapiro's religious
beliefs other than it makes him a larger target for Islamic radicals, whose antisemtism is an essential part of
their religious beliefs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-36038-75 (talk) 21:48, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
What’s currently being done reads like “proximity equals responsibility”: placing a mass-casualty event inside a section about Shapiro’s religious beliefs creates the impression that his identity or Jewish advocacy is implicated in a specific individual’s violence. Even if the underlying fact (“checked Shapiro’s Twitter 93 times”) is sourced, the section placement and lack of contextual framing are inflammatory and misleading in practice, because they invite collective blame rather than a careful, source-limited description of what police reportedly found. ~2026-36038-75 (talk) 22:04, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
This material is not neutral context about Shapiro; it’s editorial framing. By inserting the Quebec City shooting paragraph—focused on the attacker repeatedly checking Shapiro’s Twitter—into a section about Shapiro’s religion and identity, the editor effectively links Jewish identity/“Jewish advocates” with violence against Muslims. Even if the underlying “93 checks” claim is sourced, the placement and emphasis are designed to create an audience inference of responsibility-by-association, while omitting the necessary contextual separation between an attacker’s online behavior and any advocacy/incitement by Shapiro. That is misleading, inflammatory, and functions to inflame anti-Jewish sentiment by propagating a collective-responsibility narrative without evidentiary support. This should be removed from the “Religion” section and either relocated to an appropriate incidents/controversies context with clear, non-implicating wording, or rewritten to avoid implying that Shapiro’s Jewish identity/advocacy is connected to the violence. ~2026-36038-75 (talk) 22:21, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Even after the semi protection template that @EvergreenFir instated on this page, we still are getting deconstructive edits in regard to ‘Rapper’ being added to occupation. I’m wondering if invisible comments would help in this matter. What are everyone’s thoughts? @Cannolis Wanted to ping you as well in this discussion! Elvisisalive95 (talk) 14:27, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can't hurt, though probably wouldn't help either, in my experience the kind of people that would add this sort of thing won't read those comments. The number of confirmed users that would(like the person you had to revert) is relatively small though, you could also wait and see if you get more of these edits before acting. Comment - His rapping "career" is not even established as notable enough to include. A youtube link is insufficient. We need reliable secondary sources covering this song to even include it. EvergreenFir(talk)23:59, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I just added a reliable secondary source per Wikipedia:RSPSS to your revert . I too don’t believe by any means it merits being included as a career at all. That’s why I originally just wrote a simple sentence on the page stating the fact that it happened, which i believe should be included on this page in the capacity it is now. A piece from one of the blogs at The Hill, which are not as reliable as the news articles from the site. I'm not sure that's enough to demonstrate that the content is notable (with a lowercase n, not talking about WP:N). Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 00:20, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I believe the description of Shapiro as a director is inaccurate. The Daily Wire has started putting out films but Shapiro has only ever been listed as producer and never director. Film is not mentioned anywhere in the article text. Initial editor could've mixed him up with the other Ben Shapiro.
I would've just made a straight removal request but since this page has seen a bit of discussion about the occupations in the lead I figured I'd bring it up here first. Schroering1 (talk) 22:01, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've changed it to "producer" as an interim measure but neither director nor producer are in the body so maybe it should be removed entirely? DanielRigal (talk) 22:14, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've removed "movie producer" and "attorney" since Shapiro is not primarily know for those based on the article body. "Producer" also doesn't appear in the body at all, and while he has worked as a lawyer at one point, it's unclear whether he still has a license. And even if still had one, he is not primarily know as an attorney. Cortador (talk) 09:08, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I would personally add "author" owing to his large, extensive, and notable bibliography --- he indeed has a whole section of the body dedicated to him as an author. Schroering1 (talk) 19:40, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
