The section on Murray's supposed service history in WWI is based solely on his own stories. Beyond these "memories" relayed to the linguists, there is no reliable source he served, and Jones' ADB entry (which post-dates the Aboriginal History article source) makes it clear that he told "tales" of Gallipoli that seem to have emerged as a way of dealing with his close alignment with the German missionaries at Killalpaninna, and that he may have "internalised" graphic radio accounts of the Gallipoli campaign. Wikipedia should not be presenting his "service" as fact without any evidence other than his own stories recorded prior to 1988. Given Jones knew Murray for decades before he wrote the ADB article on him, if he had found evidence that corroborated Murray's service, surely he would have mentioned it in the ADB entry?
