Bejam did not sell Victor Value onto Tesco in 1986. Tesco had sold VV to Bejam a number of years earlier, VV was later merged into Bejam, and sold to Iceland in 1989. 74.65.39.59 18:36, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Bejam had bought the rump of the Victor Value chain of supermarkets"-- this statement makes no sense to Americans, for what it's worth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.229.189.20 (talk) 17:02, 19 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Rump is used in the context of back end or under performing stores   Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.198.16 (talk) 16:47, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Origin of name

[edit]

It would be good to have an explanation of the name Bejam. Flapdragon 22:52, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • It was the first names of the four company directors (with the word "and" included). I have updated this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.65.39.59 (talk) 20:35, 4 August 2007

First Shop

[edit]

Was it in Stanmore or Edgware? I have memories of shopping at Bejams in the 60s in the Edgware Road (is that bit called Edgware High Street?) and always understood it was the first. Just north of the junction with Station Road Edgware. I also remember going past that very shop shortly after the Iceland takeover and it was still there (shut down and looking very sad for itself). Did it survive the entire life of the company precisely because it was the first one?  Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C6:3180:5A00:A111:980A:2032:E447 (talk) 22:44, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
