Birth name

[edit]

Recent edits to this article changing the birth name of musician Beau Jocque prompted me to research his non-stage name. All but one reference in reliable sources that I found (including The New York Times, the Associated Press, the Boston Herald, the Baltimore Sun, the New Orleans Times-Picayune and the Library of Congress Name Authority File) show his legal last name to be spelled Espre, as opposed to Espree. There was one 1987 article in the Baton Rouge (LA) Advocate with one instance of a spelling of Espree, but that could have been a typographical error, as all other articles in the BR newspaper spelled his last name as Espre. In addition, no reliable source that I searched had any information about his legal middle name, despite recent edits claiming James vs Joseph. Finally, a photograph of his tombstone shows his non-stage name as "Andrus J. Espre". Therefore, I am going to update the article to reflect this research. If other editors update his non-stage name, please be sure to cite a reliable source to support the change in form of his legal name. NOLA1982 (talk) 02:38, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
