Not an epic film

Variety said: "A24 has shared the first look at “Beau Is Afraid,” the upcoming horror from “Midsommar” director Ari Aster." and the synopsis says "synopsis from A24 reads: “A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer-director Ari Aster." Rotten Tomatoes: Comedy/Drama". In what way is this an epic film? You can still use the word epic as an adjective, which is what is being done. Mike Allen 01:29, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

Added the epic descriptor myself today, so I figured I should elaborate here if it is controversial- the film is, in all senses of the word - an "epic". This discussion here was added before the film released, so I guess it makes sense that they wouldn't be fully sure, but the film, with it's long-form multi-act structure following various subject matters in a similar format to a hyperlink film, with Beau trekking across miles and miles of land, with direct references to epics like The Odyssey and Dante's Inferno within the story of the film, I think, makes it fair game to consider an epic. It is ambitious, sweeping, dense, and eclectic, all of which are describing factors for an "epic film". If a work like Megalopolis can be considered an epic on here, I'd say the equally dense and ambitious feature that is Beau Is Afraid should also count. ~~ RebeccaOkay (talk) 04:07, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

When to post the plot?

Now that today was the sneak premiere of Beau Is Afraid at select Alamo Drafthouses, would it be appropriate to post the plot now or to wait until the early Alamo release on the 14th or wide release on the 21st? ~~ Trqalobaid (talk) 02:10, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
