Batavia train is an Indonesian passenger train operated by Kereta Api Indonesia. It run between Gambir and Solo Balapan via Purwokerto and Yogyakarta.

The name "Batavia" comes from the Batavia tribe, a Germanic people considered to be the ancestors of the Dutch. The Dutch East India Company (VOC) used this name for their administrative center in the Dutch East Indies after capturing and destroying Jayakarta in 1619.

The name "Batavia" has no connection to the indigenous people of the Indonesian archipelago, but rather symbolized the Dutch presence and dominance in their colony. During the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies in 1942, Batavia's name was changed to Jakarta. Since the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence on 17 August 1945, the province of Jakarta has retained this name.
