The name B+ show
[edit]Could we get an etymology or background story of the B+ Show name meaning, just not clear in English — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.34.51.82 (talk) 23:52, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Bassem Youssef (television host) → Bassem Youssef – The target title is occupied by an inappropriate WP:TWODABS disambiguation page and the television host appears to be far more notable than Bassem Youssef (FBI agent). Therefore it would seem more appropriate for the subject to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Tanbircdq (talk) 00:00, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Support per Primary topic. --Al Ameer (talk) 00:45, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Support per Primary topic and WP:UNDAB. Per WP:TWODABS we can also delete the dab page and just make this one hatnote link to the FBI agent. --B2C 05:27, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose - firstly WP:TWODABS doesn't say there can't be two topics on a dab, it says the exact opposite, that there can be. Secondly Google Books are about 50/50. If anything from books this looks like a classic case for WP:TWODABS not against it. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:32, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Correction, they aren't 50/50, they are about 70/30 in favour of the FBI agent 232 but then the FBI agent became notable in 2006, the Egyptian broadcaster is WP:RECENT. Naturally the WP:RECENT article will be viewed massively more times. Which is why we don't go by recent page views alone. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:29, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Support - Regardless of the ratio on Google Books: the FBI Agent's Wikipedia article has only been viewed 235 times in the page 90 days, whereas the television host's article has been viewed 23562 times (over 100 times more) therefore clearly dominates views and much more frequently sought. Tanbircdq (talk) 10:30, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Support per Tanbircdq, article traffic does seem to show the host as primary topic. It's pretty hard to guess how many of the Google books hits refer to the TV host, but a search for "
"Bassem Youssef" -FBI" returns 2/3 of the original ~600 book hits, with most of the top results then referring to the TV host. benmoore 23:44, 31 January 2014 (UTC) - Support per Tanbircdq and per Primary topic. Ithinkicahn (talk) 00:45, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

"Rose to fame in 2023..."
[edit]I removed an unattributed claim in the lead stating that he "rose to fame in 2023" as a result of an interview with Piers Morgan. This is incompatible with the (also mentioned in the article) statement that 10 years before this he had been included in Time's list of 100 most influential people. Additionally, this statement had been introduced explicitly spelling "israel" with a lower case i (that this was deliberate is evidenced by the fact that it was piped over a properly written page). This is a not-so-subtle statement against Israel that is not acceptable here. If someone wants to go into his interview with Morgan and add its reception to the article, feel free, but this is not the way. Cheers. Ostalgia (talk) 17:29, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Update Photo
[edit]This photo of Youssef is kinda old. I request for it to be changed to a more recent one. 76.65.45.114 (talk) 08:32, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
The lead needs updating
[edit]I added information to the lead so it is current since right now it is significantly outdated. However, User:Fragrant Peony reverted the content incorrectly proclaiming it is "spam" when it's essential information. The lead does not mention his arrest, move to the United States, nor worth since then. The last credit in the lead was a show he did a decade ago. Thoughts users? Conspiracy theories and anti-Semitism
[edit]Youssef has recently been delving ever deeper into outrageous, anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, blaming Israel for seemingly every act of violence on planet earth over the last "hundred years" - his words, even though Israel has been around for less than 78, and he said that two years ago. Sep 11? Israel. Oct 7? Israel. Attacks against synagogues in various Arab countries during the 1950s? Every one done by the Mossad. He also says that the Jews run the media, and pretty much the world. It is Youssef's recent interview on fellow anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist Candace Owens's shows which moves his wild ideas to the forefront, as he pushed things ever farther than he ever has. This can no longer be ignored.
As such, I added an appropriate and highly relevant sub-section to the article, and provided no fewer than six sources. And then got reverted by an editor who listed nitpicks, while ignoring the overall situation. While I wouldn't know the motivations of said editor, Wikipedia can no longer ignore what is going on, and continue to pretend that Youssef is a voice which is worthy of blind respect. To remove the entire part of Youssef which has seemingly taken over every interview he has done in recent months, and, by now, perhaps years, would be thoroughly irresponsible. ~2026-72281-6 (talk) 14:18, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Your edit contains a lot of commentary and opinion that has not been attributed to its source. Labels, such as "conspiracy theorist", "are best avoided unless widely used by reliable sources to describe the subject, in which case use in-text attribution". Regarding the sources you have used, here are some comments:
- Mediaite is not considered generally reliable
- The JC source is an opinion article by Josh Kaplan, who is the JC's head of digital. His opinion does not seem to be notable and the community's opinion of JC is not great.
- The JPost source is an opinion article by Mohamed Saad Khiralla, who also does not seem to be notable.
- Honest Reporting is an Israeli media advocacy group and pro-Israel media watchdog. Its opinions should be attributed if used at all.
- The Singju Post article is the transcript of an interview with Bassem. It is a primary source so special care needs to be employed if it is used as a source. Quotes from the interview might be fine but no commentary or interpretation of the content should be added.
- As far as I can tell the New Lines Magazine article is quite supportive of Bassem and does not substantiate the content of your edit. Burrobert (talk) 16:31, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Pasting the disputed sources here. At first glance I’d agree with Burrobert. [1][2][3][4][5][6] BobFromBrockley (talk) 06:12, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- Of these, the JP op ed might be usable as attributed opinion further down the page. Others are: non-reliable, non-noteworthy opinion, a primary source and a good source which doesn’t say anything negative BobFromBrockley (talk) 06:15, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
