WHAT???

[edit]

Its all very nice that people go and add stuff for Australia, but loses meaning when people just make things up. There could not be a single solitary person in australia who has ever heard of the "Bass Straight Triangle" as its not a term or theory that has ever been put forward by anyone here. Perhaps this article needs removing as a lame joke? If i could remember how to tag it i would but cant remember, looking it up now. Squad'nLeedah (talk) 10:35, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've lived in Victoria for a long time, and like Squadnleedah have never heard the term Bass Strait Triangle. However, the 4th reference in the article is "Jack Loney, Mysteries of the Bass Strait Triangle, Neptune Press, 1st ed. 1980. 3rd ed. 1984". That contains the title Bass Strait Triangle, so it has existed since at least 1980. Haven't read the book, so I don't know if the author invented the term back then, but we have to acknowledge that it exists. HiLo48 (talk) 02:08, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
The name itself is jokish in a way, a portmanteau of the "Triangle" term given to the northwest Atlantic Ocean, bear Bermuda. Bass Straight unexplained disappearances would be much more rational title, but probably not as sensationalistic...and thus not likely as popular. I will still make the suggestion/request, however, for exactly that. --Chr.K. (talk) 05:00, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Bass Strait

[edit]

Not supported - the explanation, the categories, and the general aspect of this article is that to be kept separate is to separate the general article of Bass Strait from the material that exists in this article. They are in effect separate subjects, and to merge would be problematic, as the strait itself is not in any way historically a site of paranormal issues. The interpretations of the issues raised from the triangle ideas/theories are well kept separate. Merging is not a good idea. sats 09:35, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cites needed

[edit]

This article continues to make several statements which are not referenced, despite the fact that way back in January 2009 a tag was placed on the article calling for inline citations. Per WP:NOCITE I am adding several {{citation needed}} tags to material that requires referencing or removal . Moriori (talk) 01:20, 2 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've managed to track down a copy of Killey & Lesters book, I should have the page numbers extracted from it added to the article in a few days.Graham1973 (talk) 01:46, 4 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
