Conflict of interest, and plagiarism

[edit]

The article was created by editor Norbertpayne, probably Basil Payne's son, who operates a Payne website. This might be fine, but the potential WP:Conflict of interest was not declared, so I am flagging it for awareness.

The style of the article text resembles a literary dictionary or encyclopaedia (particularly before my minor copyedits today) hinting, perhaps, at straight plagiarism. A couple of the sources are now dead links so it is difficult to confirm my hunch and I do not have time now to investigate further. Spideog (talk) 19:56, 28 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Additional comment: A quick glance at the Basil Payne entry in the Dictionary of Irish Biography shows that much of the article text is copied, then pasted here without alteration. I don't have time to deal with this plagiarism now. Spideog (talk) 20:15, 28 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
