Nice article. I did a little wikification and copy-editing. You need to add more references and weblinks, but this is definitely more than a stub, so I took off the stub tag. I also don't think you need a clean-up tag. This article is neater than 75% of the articles in Wikipedia. If you want to put on a tag, I'd suggest the expand tag. Early education

Basil Hood attended University College School in London from 1870-1872, making him an "Old Gower", like Richard D'Oyly-Carte.

I do, but you may not like the source for one. Basil entered Wellington in the Michaelmas (fall) term of 1877 and left at Easter 1880. Caroline Jones, the archivist of Wellington found that. Asked for a citation, she said: "The admission register in which he appears does not yet have a catalogue number, but Wellington College Admission Register 1 (Nos. 1-250) should identify it."

Also according to Caroline, his admission to Sandhurst (5 Aug 1882) is listed in the Wellingtonian, Vol. VII No.16, September 1882, p.245, and his pass for commission (8 Aug 1883) in Wellingtonian, Vol. VIII No.7, October 1883, p. 108. I have not personally seen any of those documents.

Thanks. I added the school and dates. The other info is, I think, too detailed for WP:BALASP and WP:DUE. We are missing 1872 to 1877, though, which is a big gap. -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:04, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
