I am Justin Lopas, co-founder and COO of Base Power, so I have a conflict of interest and am not editing the article directly. I would like to request the following changes, each supported by independent published sources. Please adjust the wording as you see fit, or decline any change you do not think is warranted.
1. Leadership section: replace the sentence on Lopas's background
The current sentence, "Before co-founding Base Power, Lopas worked at SpaceX and Anduril Industries", is cited to TechSpot, which mentions my SpaceX ties but does not mention Anduril. I suggest replacing it with a sentence cited to Business Insider, which covers both.
Change: Before co-founding Base Power, Lopas worked at SpaceX and Anduril Industries.[1]
To: Lopas interned at SpaceX in 2013 while a student at the University of Michigan, and joined the company full time in 2016. At SpaceX he worked on the Falcon rocket and on building out manufacturing capabilities in Boca Chica Village, Texas, the area that later became Starbase. He moved to Anduril Industries in 2020. He worked in manufacturing and mechanical engineering at both companies before co-founding Base Power in 2023.[2]
2. History section: add a paragraph on manufacturing (after the Illinois sentence)
Add: In October 2025, Base Power leased the former distribution center of the Austin American-Statesman at 305 South Congress Avenue in Austin as a temporary site for its first factory. The company had previously outsourced battery production.[3] The plant, called Base Factory 1, opened in 2026.[4] In August 2026, the company said the factory was producing thousands of battery systems a month, including its Base Core battery.[5] Base Power is also building a larger permanent factory near Austin–Bergstrom International Airport, a planned investment of $265 million, with completion expected in 2027.[6][4]
3. Reference housekeeping (optional)
Change: the title of the existing name="Leonard" reference from "Zach Dell's Base Power secures $1B for growing battery business in Austin" to the headline now shown at that URL, "Austin energy startup Base Power raises another $1B amid massive battery demand".
Thank you to any reviewer who takes the time to look at this request. ~~~~ Chestershouse (talk) 12:36, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
