What? Why are you mentioning me specifically? If I wanted to answer the question I would do so. I don't know why you need me in particular to answer this question.

Bamboo that flowers every 100 years?

The article states "The commercially important bamboo Guadua, or Cana brava (Guadua angustifolia) bloomed for the first time in recorded history in 1971, suggesting a blooming interval well in excess of 130 years."

Somebody already pointed out that there is no citation for this fact, but I would like to add that it seems implausible

If it only flowers every hundred years wouldn't most of the bamboo trees be gone? How can it be commercially important if it flowers less than once a century?

Water desalination

I cannot readily find any examples of bamboo being used for water desalination. Articles like this and this lead me to suspect that whoever listed "desalination filters" as one of bamboos "thousands of uses" mistook bamboo-inspired biomimetics for actually using bamboo in desalination filters. Regardless of whether or not there are desalination filters that actually use bamboo (which seems questionable), the fact that I can't locate a source actually describing such a filter indicates that this doesn't have enough weight to justify its own section, so I am removing it. ເສລີພາບ (talk) 01:36, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
