Disputing the BBC reference
[edit]The BBC has been very sloppy in its use of the worlds highest and tallest which have specialist and different meanings. The Guinness record also has an different definition of highest, using bottom of the riverbed to the top of the bridge deck on a bridge with a 5% slope giving a measurement some 12.57m different to the engineering drawings. The BBC has rounded some measurements up distorting the story. It is a nonsense to suggest that the Tour Eifel could fit easily into the gorge- height wise no problems, but it is too wide at the base! It is also not yet finished- so it should have been written in the future tense. It does not surpass the Viaduc de Milau- but- will surpass when it is completed later this year. The story is honouring Presidente Caldaron- not attempting to be an accurate engineering source. It seems to be taken from the same press release that the Sydney Morning Herald used which is better- but the highest bridges wiki is the most authorative source. It is our fault that we hadn't got this article together earlier so the BBC could have checked their facts. --ClemRutter (talk) 10:20, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Explanative prose
[edit]An ip-editor wrote two well formed paragraphs to help the reader make a comparison between Baluarte and Millau- I dispute that this was original research- and dispute that it should have been erased. I propose the wording was directed to the general reader- while the new text is aimed more at the specialist. I propose -if we have concensus-it should be reinstated.
Since we lost the commons diagram of the puente- one has to bore down into the references to even find out the eleven pier two pylon structure looks like. If I have a moment I can knock up a derivative svg- if someone will tell me whether copying a engineering drawing hits any copyright restrictions in Mexican law. --ClemRutter (talk) 23:55, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
