Retention, Detention

Are these just an English concept for retention or detention basins? Should this be mentioned/linked in the article? Criticalthinker (talk) 11:36, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

So, it's a retention basin, and I really do question whether the subject is worth its own article as opposed to a section on the article about retention basins? And even apart from that question, it strikes me the how part about Willen Lake would be more appropriate for that lake's article since it doesn't deal with the actual subject matter. It's maybe worth mentioning in passing that the lakes can have other functions, but we don't need a whole "case study" subsection talking about recreation and such. Or a retention basin is a kind of balancing lake?

As a basin seems to be a more general term (that would include lakes) this article should probably become a section in Retention basin as suggested by Criticalthinker.
