Distinguishing historical Bajánháza from Bayanhazov (Bókaháza)

[edit]

Subject: Distinguishing historical Bajánháza from Bayanhazov (Bókaháza)Hello. I wanted to start a discussion regarding a potential point of geographical confusion for researchers looking into the village's historical Hungarian name, Bajánháza (or its older 1370 variant, Bayanhaza). The phonetic spelling Bayanhazov is frequently found in regional Slavic records and immigration manifests, but it actually maps directly to Bókaháza in Zala County, Hungary. Because the spellings look almost identical, it is very easy to incorrectly assume they are the same town.I propose adding a short note to the article's lead or history section to explicitly clarify that this location is entirely separate from the village of Bókaháza/Bayanhazov. This will ensure future editors and researchers tracking historical records do not cross their wires.I would appreciate any thoughts on how we might best phrase this note in the main text! ~2026-45379-96 (talk) 03:38, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
