I see that there was a prior discussion at Talk:BP/Archive 21. People in that discussion seem to have agreed to refer to "British Petroleum" as a "former name" in the lead section of the article. But I don't see any such statement in the lead section of the article currently. The lead section says the name "British Petroleum" was adopted in 1954, but it does not say that the name was ever deprecated. Is that a former name or is it a current name? I see some mention of attempting to redefine the abbreviation as "Beyond Petroleum". That is mentioned in the article body, but not in the lead section.
