BE-3 / BE-3U
[edit]This page discusses both the BE-3 and BE-3U engine, but since the change to make the BE-3U an expander engine instead of using Tap-off, it is a completely different device. Specific impulse ?

- Yes, that would be my guess as well. As a private company, developing the BE-3 on their own dime, Blue Origin is certainly free to keep their data proprietary as they wish, which it would seem they have been doing with a great deal of info about all of their rocket, capsule, and engine developpment work over the past decade.

Can it gimbal ?

Technical specifications removal
[edit]I Would like to remove the section entirely.
- 2018 New Shepard used a BE-3 variant that was explicitly retrofitted for vacuum. I doubt it was a BE-3U back than. The source doesn't state that the BE-3PM is specifically designed for sea-level. They have just no numbers for a vacuum variant. Other sources say that the BE-3U is made for upper stages. But single stage rockets are not sea-level only.
- The other two specs are only for BE-3PM and mentioned somewhere before. So it doesn't add information.
Updated the thrust levels of the BE-3U
[edit]My prior edit uprating the engine to 172k lbf was incorrectly reverted. Today, Limp announced that it is now 175k lbf and I have updated it accordingly. DescribeInWords (talk) 00:04, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
