More work, more work!!

[edit]

I'm guessing that the original article started out on it.wikipedia.org and then was partially translated to English, Japanese, and Suomi. I can't read Italian, so I can't gauge how notable the subject really is, but this may be one for the translation request boards. -- Emana (Talk) 22:32, 22 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The fact that recent transactions valued the company at over €1bn means there's no problem on the notability front, they'd comfortably be in the FTSE-350 for instance and are one of Europe's major aerospace companies, if not quite in the BAe/EADS/Rolls Royce league. Galileo Avionica is not part of Avio SpA but it is a part of Finmeccanica SpA. DiegoN —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.33.227.89 (talk) 13:48, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

@BillCat - improvements

[edit]

Hi, I made some modification on the page but they have been marked as advertisement. It was not my intention, could you help me in suggesting some improvements? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Estergo (talkcontribs) 10:49, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for not being able to address the specifics earlier, but the problems still remain. Most of the sources appear to be from the company itself. Were these copied verbatim? Much of it still reads in a style that suggests it was translated from another language, and that needs correcting. Also, there probably too much infomation in the article, which needs to be trimmed alot.
Problem phrases include:
  • "aeronautical production started taking its first steps" - too informal
  • "In the aeronautical field, roots grew in Brindisi with the SACA Company." non-English phrasing, not quite certain what is ment here
  • "In Avio’s history worthy of mention is their presence in the development and manufacture of engines for the production of electric energy, coming from the experience gained in the sector of large engines for ships." bad tranlation, to obtuse, proclamation ("worthy of mention")
  • "Situated in a poor region of Roman countryside, the town of Colleferro was born around the industrial site; elevated to a municipal district in 1935 by Royal Decree." unnecessary, as the articel isn't about the town.
There are more phrases like these. The major probelm is that the article is not encyclopedic in tone. I'll see what I can do in the next few weeks, and I'll try to get some other editors involved. Don't take the "Advert" tag personally - it just means that the article is too informal and promotional, and having it there will help bring in other editors to adress the problem.

Finally, the article seems like it's actually about several companies. We already have articles on Fiat and Fiat Aviazione, and perhaps some others too. The main thing is when the current company Avio began, and what does it do? This isn't very clear. While the Italian Wikipedia may not have these other articles, we do, so we nee to be careful not to overlap thsse articles' coverage. - BilCat (talk) 07:58, 10 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sale of aviation business

[edit]

I have just added a minimal description of the changes that occurred in 2013. This article is going to require more changes as the company is now only active in the space business. My Gussie (talk) 23:10, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
