Proposing merge of Gumboro disease and Infectious bursal disease to Avibirnavirus

The result of this discussion was: no consensus to merge both Gumboro disease and Infectious bursal disease to Avibirnavirus, but consensus for merging Gumboro disease into Infectious bursal disease. DferDaisy (talk) 18:52, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

• Merge - Gumboro disease is another name for Infectious bursal disease. Both are common names for the monotypic genus Avibirnavirus which contains only the species Infectious bursal disease virus. All of these articles are fairly short, and it would serve readers to have all the information on one page. --Nessie (talk) 23:35, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
• Merge per Nessie, provided that we make it clear in Avibirnavirus the contrast between the virus and the disease. Make sure to create redirects:

1. Gumboro disease
2. Infectious bursal disease
3. IBD
4. Infectious bursitis

• Redirect Gumboro disease to Infectious bursal disease. There's no real need to merge that with the virus page, but if they are to be merged, it should be the other way – the disease article is much more developed than the virus one (and WP:COMMONNAME). • Oppose merge into this article. There's no reason why we can't have a separate virus article and a disease article, and they can be a lot easier to maintain (as virus articles get different editor types than medical/vet articles).
