Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose merging Authority (sociology) into Authority. I think the content in the former can easily be incorporated into the latter, and a merge would not cause any article-size or weighting problems in the latter. If there are differences between how authority is understood in the sociological sense and in other fields, then the article should flesh out those differences. Currently, this article seems to be oriented around the sociological understanding of the concept, which makes the existence of two separate articles even more puzzling. History Needs Additions

[edit]

Starting with - catholics -, as if abrahamic trilogy has anything to do with it, or Geneva city-state ?! Why not instead start with Greek / Hellenic city-states, who had authority a few thousand years before what the article starts with (pre-Greek Dark Ages). Historical erasure is sadly common, but should be the antonym of a Wikipedia article. 2600:1012:B1B6:F74E:514A:DC68:B772:9D34 (talk) 12:49, 29 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
