Tax Horsepower
[edit]Whilst the concept of Tax horsepower is known to some dedicated enthusiasts, I can imagine there might be increasing numbers of readers confused by the idea that the Austin 14 is actually a 16 (tax) horsepower vehicle, with an engine producing approximately 38-46 actual horsepower. A link to Tax horsepower is a step in the right direction, although even I am confused as to why Austin didn't identify it as the 'Sixteen' from the outset. Was it always taxed at 16hp, or did that arise following the engine modifications in December 1937; however there is no mention of any change in cylinder dimensions.
I shall also add a link to the Austin Light Twelve-Six, already provided in both Infoboxes, but not as part of the main text. WendlingCrusader (talk) 16:57, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
