Institution: 'Battleships' of the Royal Navy

[edit]

Text of article at present: "The Battle of the Atlantic took place between 3 September 1939 and 8 May 1945, as German U boats attacked convoys transporting vital supplies from America and the Colonies to Britain. Battleships of the Royal Navy and aircraft of the Royal Air Force escorted these convoys..." Although this is a direct quote from the cited British government source, it's clearly wrong - convoys were not escorted exclusively by battleships, and this medal was awarded to the crews of all RN escort vessels - destroyers, corvettes etc, as well as battleships - that qualified. I believe the author of the text must have imagined that 'battleship' is synonymous with 'warship'. In any case Battleships needs replacing with Warships. I intend to do so, citing this government source https://www.forces-war-records.co.uk/medals/atlantic-star-medal/Robocon1 (talk) 09:22, 28 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
