Auto updates of orbital elements

[edit]

I have set up this article to have its orbital elements automatically updated by User:AstRoBot, an approved bot for this purpose. Other editors are welcome to observe the results of this change as you'll see the bot begin to update these six parms every couple of weeks, and flag anything that does not look right. Cheers. Active transponders

[edit]

I took a look at the Active transponders section and the one source that is given to support 100% of the statements in that large section. On the plus side, the source is current and attempts are being made to keep the section up to date. On the other hand, I believe we could improve the article in a few ways. It is a bit unclear what some of the terms mean, or even how they map to the source information. In other cases, the Wikipedia article is showing more, or fewer, channels in the channel table for a given transponder than the source indicates. Not clear why.

There may be a good reason for all of this, but in order to improve the article, thought I would start a conversation here to see what our more satellite transponder knowledgeable editors might think about the matter. Cheers. N2e (talk) 14:09, 2 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I was responsible for the update of this section and the shorthand that has obviously caused confusion. There was a good reason - to reduce the physical size of the list without reducing the comprehensiveness - but that clearly failed (oh well, nothing ventured, etc). I have expanded it out again so, eg, BBC One Wales, Scotland is back to two entries of BBC One Wales and BBC One Scotland. I have better labelled and explained the +1 channels. Hopefully, it now makes sense)! I've also updated the list and added another source Satbuff (talk) 15:43, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
