A Citation from Quanta?

Quanta Magazine is a site for popular science reporting, instead of an actual scientific journal where literature is presented, and is therefore unreliable. Is there a reason for this citation? GordyBeefPasta (talk) 09:38, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

It's not used as a citation, it is in the further reading section which has more relaxed requirements. MrOllie (talk) 11:15, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

Incorrect category?

This article is listed under the category of “Molecular Biology Technique”. Assembly Theory as is described in the article and by its original authors from the published source material cited propose Assembly theory as a hypothetical conceptualization. I do not believe Techniques are considered hypothetical concepts. Techniques are methods or applications of technical processes that “accomplish” a desired aim. Assembly Theory only makes the hypothetical claim of a process but of none which have been proven validated; or even actually executed/tested physically to achieve its desired aim. Further more all items listed under the category of “Molecular Biology Techniques” do fit the criteria mentioned above defining “techniques”. I believe therefore as a practical consideration to review removing the category as proper a request. Jacqueanton (talk) 03:28, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

My main contentions is as follows. Theories are not techniques. Theory provides the why (general explanations, principles, understanding), while technique offers the how (specific, skillful actions, methods) to apply that understanding, In essence, theory informs strategy, and technique executes it. so it’s confusing that when I compare this article to all the other articles listed under the category it looks like an orange in a basket of apples. First passage of 'critical views' section is ungrammatical and non-neutral.

Change: 'Benner argues that it is transparently false that non-living systems, and with no life intervention, cannot contain molecules that are complex but people would be misled in thinking that because it was published in Nature journals after peer review, these papers must be right' to 'Benner argues that it is transparently false that non-living systems do not contain complex molecules.'
