COI edit request: December 2025 bankruptcy paragraph

[edit]

I have a conflict of interest: I am affiliated with Ashley Stewart / G. Ashley Inc.

What I think should be changed:

Replace the final paragraph of the History section, which currently reads:

"In December 2025, Ashley Stewart filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the third time in an effort to freeze a multi-state fraudulent transfer to G Ashley Inc., claiming that the sale of its assets to the company was fraudulent due to the transaction being unlawful."

with:

"On December 17, 2025, a Chapter 11 petition was filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey (case no. 25-23314) on behalf of Ashley Stewart, Inc. The petitioners sought to halt a transfer of assets to G Ashley Inc., which they described as a fraudulent transfer. On December 23, 2025, Judge Stacey L. Meisel granted a motion by the company's authorized board and immediately dismissed the case, holding that Ram Ajjarapu and Julia Klyashtorny lacked authority to commence the bankruptcy."

Why it should be changed:

The current sentence only describes the petition as it was filed. The case was dismissed six days later as unauthorized. That is in the court's December 23, 2025 dismissal order (Doc. 53) and in independent coverage.
