along with psychology

[edit]

It didn't seem like there was a ton of information on why people do this or what they are considered (the impulse control disorder and pyromania), the only place I could find the information was in the introduction. Should it be brought down to a new section or could it be talked about more in-depth. Tina leighann (talk) 14:52, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Adding a Psychology topic to the actual article.

[edit]

I am immensely interested in psychology and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to add a psychology paragraph to the topic of arson because I think it would be important for readers to learn about why arsonists might commit the crime or what attributions start that chain of bad events in a person. In all, why do arsonists do what they do and what got them to start. Was it their childhood or was it a trigger in their life? Melbaby52822 (talk) 01:54, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

This has been discussed a few times before, and I don't see any consensus against it having developed, so please do be bold and add one if you're able to. You're welcome to add it as just a paragraph or an appropriately-placed section as you see fit. If you need more help with contributing, feel free to read the new contributors' guide or ask others for help. Happy editing, Closingbrackettalk 05:50, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Add arson methods

[edit]

This article should also include methods of arson, just like Suicide methods and Suicide#Methods TyphoonHurricaneCyclone (talk) 07:47, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Page updated

[edit]

I've made a number of updates to the page (updated intro, reorg superfluous legal tibits, and added a couple more academic sources, but still feel that it is generally lacking a worldwide view. I have added a Motivations section and tried to fluff up the notable events section with a number of varied examples. I have not added a methods section, all the studies I found which went into any detail on methods were either very small or looked only at one specific method.
