(I am brand new to this, so please bear with me.)

In scrounging the internet to draw up a map of the Battle of Kazan in 1552, I ran across this article. It has some infelicities.

1. Arsk Field is to the EAST (not west) of the walls of medieval Kazan. This is made quite evident in chapter 4 of volume 8 of N.M.Karamzin's History of the Russian State.

2. The field is most probably named after the road to Arsk. Arucha is simply the Tatar name for Arsk and Darugha is the administrative unit of which Arsk is the center.

I would be happy to work with an editor to amend the article, and provide documentation, but my time is limited and my experience is nil: I cannot do this myself. Geoffrbaldwin (talk) 18:18, 21 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Updated to reflect location relative to the walls. Pretty blatant error & good eye. As for the naming, it's pretty clear that the Arsk / Archa and region / road distinction is not likely of any substance. Avram (talk) 06:56, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
