Formant?

[edit]

"Arlo can also be a variant of Harley and the first formant in Arlene ..."\

I do not think it [formant] means what you think it means.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.242.82.31 (talk) 21:10, 7 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Traditionally a male given name

[edit]

It bears observation- borne out by the fact that every single individual's article linked from here is male- that it is only recently that the name has become more popular as a girls' name, as is the case with numerous others due to whatever fashion or other dictates these things. It's pointless simply to observe it's a "unisex name" when it's only NOW that girls are being given the name, as previously mentioned, indicated by the fact that all notable/ adult Arlos are evidently male. A generation from now that's not unlikely to have changed, of course.

Unisex/male

@~2026-21717-88 @~2026-17971-66 @~2026-21795-38 Please explain how does a source state that Arlo is a male name considering credible source Yahoo! News lists it as one of the most popular unisex names. Additionally, "made it more accurate to reflect actual naming trends" is WP:NOR and you are going directly against a source. lia milenakos :3 🌺 21:23, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The TA's blanket removals of content elsewhere and their use of slurs against other editors indicate to me they are not here to contribute in good faith. This is not a content dispute but disruptive editing. Yue🌙 (talk) 22:56, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
