Aras PLM Open Source?

I've had a look at their flagship PLM software at http://www.aras.com/support/downloads/downloadInnovator.aspx I can't see anything in that license that looks like an OpenSource license to me. I've added the {fact} tag into the text. Also their license is not on the OSI list of licenses at http://www.opensource.org/licenses/alphabetical --duncan.lithgow (talk) 11:09, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I cannot find Aras Innovator on Codeflex and have found several references disputing the claim that Aras uses open-source licenses. To reflect this I have removed the section on open-source which contained no references or clarification. Hopefully someone who have dug to the bottom of this issue will refactor the article. Maybe a link to Michael Tieman's blog at, http://www.opensource.org/node/102 ? In my opinion Aras is not Open Source as OSI defines it. I have found no place to download the source code. Jeppe 99 (talk) 13:51, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Aras answered my challenge which upfront ezine then partly published at http://www.upfrontezine.com/2011/upf-708.htm They're a mixed code model, which means to me that they are not open source. But they support open source extensions. --duncan.lithgow (talk) 14:19, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because as poor as the article is, the product and company appear to be noteable. Try searching for "Aras upfront ezine", "Aras Autodesk", "Aras Dassault" and I think a number of interesting stories and articles come up.

Aras Corporation is an American enterprise software company headquartered in Andover, Massachusetts, that develops Aras Innovator, a digital thread platform for product lifecycle management (PLM) and engineering AI.

History

Aras was founded in 2000 by Peter Schroer. In 2001, the company launched Aras Innovator as its core software platform. Aras Innovator was the first web-native PLM platform. First version included the novel Aras Markup Language, a XML-based query language for working with PLM data.

In 2007, Aras introduced an "open" version of its software, which later became Aras Innovator Community Edition.

In 2017, Aras received a $40 million investment from Silver Lake. [1] In 2018, the company announced a $70 million investment led by Goldman Sachs. [2]

In 2019, Ansys launched Ansys Minerva, a simulation process and data management offering powered by Aras. [3]

In 2021, Aras announced an investment from GI Partners. [4] In the same year, Roque Martin was appointed chief executive officer, succeeding Peter Schroer, who remained on the board of directors. [5] Aras also released Aras Innovator SaaS. [6]

In 2022, Aras merged with Minerva Group. [7] In the same year, the company announced an investment in XPLM. [8] AVEVA also launched AVEVA Asset Lifecycle Management powered by Aras. [9]

In 2025, Leon Lauritsen became chief executive officer. [10] In the same year, Aras introduced Aras InnovatorEdge, a low-code API management framework for extending product digital thread ecosystems. [11]

In 2026, Aras introduced Aras InnovatorEdge AI, a suite of services for building and governing AI workflows and services across the Aras Innovator ecosystem. [12]

Analyst recognition

Aras has been included in several industry analyst reports and evaluations of the product lifecycle management (PLM) software market, including Forrester Wave evaluations of PLM software vendors and other analyst assessments such as QKS SPARK Matrix, ABI, and IDC. [13][14][15][16]
