Casualties

[edit]

There is no reference to the number of casualties in this event, and the question is whether it can be included in List of conflicts in the Middle East, which is relevant if at least 100 killed.Greyshark09 (talk) 16:29, 5 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I checked the book that the article cites, but the only death mentioned is that of the officer who died during transport to the prison camp after the failure of the revolt. I also did a quick search, but I'm having a hard time find other references to the revolt. I'd imagine that there would likely be more than one death involved, especially given the number of men involved in the revolt, but I can't find any sources backing that at the moment. Because of the fatality requirements maybe it would be best to take it off the list for the time being? MrPenguin20 (talk) 20:28, 5 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
First and foremost, we need more references for this article. --Soman (talk) 20:32, 5 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Right, I've found a declassified CIA Bulletin from 5 July 1963 that refers to the coup (page 4). It's pretty vague, but it's a start. It gives the number of rebels involved at ~300, instead of the 2,000 given by Ismael. Still though, some interesting bits are that Baghdad claimed Moscow supplied instructors to the rebels, and gives an idea of the foreign policy ramifications of the revolt. So with your permission, i shall take it off list.Greyshark09 (talk) 16:02, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I'd agree with taking it off for now. MrPenguin20 (talk) 21:47, 26 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
