Reclassification

[edit]

I am no taxonomist, so perhaps others can help. Ordlandin, Piovesan and Carneiro (2024) have proposed a wholesale reclassification of this family, incorporating a number of new genera based partly on molecular analysis: . Some of these genera, such as Tuyvae, have also had new species assigned to them by other authors, like Tuyvae douglasboyesi. --Noswall59 (talk) 11:54, 10 January 2025 (UTC).Reply

It can be difficult to incorporate papers like this that are (1) behind a paywall and (2) very recent. It's good to know that a reclassification has been proposed, and it's reasonable to include a cite for the paper and mention it, but changing the existing taxonomy here should ideally wait until there is some evidence that other researchers have accepted and adopted the changed classification.
