Merger discussion with Sati (practice)

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
To not merge, the practices being sufficiently different to warrant separate discussion. Klbrain (talk) 10:20, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose: Though the practices are similar, they are not the same. Sati or Sahamarana is self-immolation on the funeral pyre by the widow. Anumarana is self-immolation by the widow after the cremation of her husband. Further, Sati is restricted to widows; Anumarana can be performed by others like servants.

  • Oppose: Both may look similar at first glance but actually they're different. If we started merging these looking similar articles, we should also merge it with Jauhar, it is also practice of self immolation, which is not a good decision as idea and people involved is different through practice is same. Same in this case
