Early life section?
[edit]Hi PequodOnStationAtLZ, nice work on this article. It's an interesting read—it could make a good candidate for DYK. I'm wondering if there's enough sourcing to add an early life section? The lead/infobox states that he was born in the Kingdom of Prussia and worked as a trunkmaker, but I'm not seeing that sourced anywhere in the article body. Thanks. - Hey @Zeibgeist, I’m very honored you think this would qualify for a DYK. The info on Fischer’s personal life comes from various articles relating to his attempted assassination and trial. I kept them out of the lead since I’ve noticed many “major” articles on this site held up as a standard for editors do not put citations in the lead. I only put citations in the lead when they didn’t fit in the article. I could do some more digging but Fischer’s early life is pretty sparse. Doesn’t help that he never held office so it’s hard to find “formal” biographies. PequodOnStationAtLZ (talk) 02:58, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- @PequodOnStationAtLZ: As described at WP:LEADCITE, material in the lead typically does not include citations if it is sourced later in the article body. If there is material in the lead that isn't sourced in the article body, it definitely needs to include citations for verifiability purposes. In this case, I think a one- or two-sentence "Early life" section would be fine—at least something that mentions his place/year of birth and early occupation. - Looks good on a cursory read through! This provides valuable context for the section on the assassination that follows. It's getting a bit late for me, but I can give the article a more thorough read-through within the next few days. If you're open to it, I may submit the article for DYK as well.
