"Professor" title

[edit]

Anne Aly has earned the title "Professor" in her academic career, should this be added to her name in the lede? Powertothepeople (talk) 10:18, 14 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Discussion: Inclusion of family details and WP:BLPNAME

[edit]

I noticed the recent removal of the mention of Anne Aly's son's participation in The Floor Australia based on WP:BLPNAME.

While I understand the caution regarding the privacy of living persons, I believe the "low-profile" argument does not apply here for two reasons:

Public Record via Subject's Works: The subject (Anne Aly) has already brought her sons into the public sphere by documenting them extensively in her memoir, Finding My Place (ABC Books, 2018). Their identities are already disseminated in high-quality secondary sources and are a matter of public record.

Current Notability: Participation in a national prime-time television program moves an individual out of the "low-profile" category for the duration of the event's relevance.

I suggest restoring the following text to the Personal life section, as it provides a complete and verifiable biographical picture of the subject's family life—a topic she herself has made public:

"Aly has two sons, Adam and Karim, from her first marriage. In 2026, her eldest son, Adam Rida, appeared as a contestant on the second season of the Australian game show The Floor."

Sources: Aly, Anne (2018). Finding My Place. ABC Books.

Does anyone have a policy-based objection to this compromise, given that the family connection is already public knowledge? ~2026-24344-47 (talk) 23:23, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
