@Gerda Arendt: I know this is going back to 2019, but why in the world did you cite Jost for saying Neumann was born in Stampfen? Jost says Vienna in the very first sentence. So does Grove. I know you didn't introduce the place of birth, LouisAlain, did, but you did add a false citation for that fact when adding references after he wrote that fact. I'm assuming this was on accident, but it's not good to see citations not match the cited sources. I am constantly finding errata in LouisAlain's writing (including systemic false citations), so please please double check all content and not assume what Louis wrote is true, or that a given reference work will automatically have the same content without double checking. There are usually many false statements in that editor's contributions. I am still cleaning up factual errata in that editor's work when I come across one of his pages, and he has been blocked for many years. The problem I see is less translator LouisAlain but lack of inline citation and ambiguity in the German article. I just tried to translate it more closely (in the article), but may still be wrong. The State Opera writes this about its history, which tells me that he took over a theatre in Prague, gave it a new building which he called Neues Deutsches Theater, which opened in 1988 with the Meistersinger, and that house became today's State Opera. It's the State Opera (Prague), which was known as the Neues Deutsches Theater in the 1880s. There is a section on the " New German Theatre" in that article. I have fact checked through the Leipzig years. I will look at the Prague years later. I found a bunch of book sources of the touring Wagner years, and I am going to work on expanding that tommorrow. @Gerda Arendt: So in looking at book sources. Neumann was not responsible for the building of the theatre. At that time there were two competing theatre cultures, one Czech and the other German. With the building the Czech National Theatre, Prague in 1883, the German community in Prague rallied to work towards building a German theatre equivalent in the city. The wheelings and dealings for the Neues Deutsches Theater began prior to Neumann's recruitment, and was several years in the making.

It is clear Neumann was brought in to revive the struggling German Theatre in 1885 which was then housed at the Estates Theatre, and that plans for a new theatre were already in the works at the time of his recruitment. Neumann began his tenure as director of the German Theatre (a.k.a. Estates Theatre) in 1885. A government supported plan was officially approved in 1886 for the building of Neues Deutsches Theater (NDT), and the NDT opened in January 1888 with Neumann maintaining his role as artistic director when the theatre company moved into its new building. He was the NDT's first artistic director, and was celebrated for leading a "golden age" of theatre in Prague. I'll work on expanding and clarifying from book source and journal articles. I found a few more errors and fixed those, found some reliable sources for facts not found in the original cited source, and generally expanded content from the book sources I located.
