... that scriptwriter Ang Eng Tee drew inspiration from the rich Peranakan Chinese heritage in Katong and Joo Chiat to create The Little Nyonya, Singapore’s highest-rated television drama in 15 years?

- Hello! I'll give this one a review shortly. Turnagra (talk) 23:51, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
In general I think it's a good start: the article is a good length, (generally) sourced well, and was created a day before the nomination. No QPQ is needed as it's your first DYK (welcome!) However, there are a few changes I think the article could benefit from before being approved for DYK:
- English names should be used where possible per WP:UE - given Singapore's multilingual nature, I assume the village has a term it's known by in English? The same also goes for his pen name in the "Other work" section.
- While it's sourced well overall, there are a few points where additional citations would be beneficial. For example, there are uncited sentences in the second para of "early life and education", the third para of "1990-2006: Breakthrough" and the first, second, and fourth paras of "2006-present: Independent work" that need citing due to the stricter requirements of WP:BLP.
- The other work section mentions that he has written novels and proses, but not what these are. Could this be expanded?
- In terms of the hook itself, it seems fine and is backed up by a source. I do wonder whether it could be reworded, and whether there's too much going on. How do either of these sound?
- ALT1 ... that scriptwriter Ang Eng Tee created The Little Nyonya by drawing inspiration from the rich Peranakan Chinese heritage in Singapore's Katong and Joo Chiat?
ALT2 ... that scriptwriter Ang Eng Tee created The Little Nyonya, Singapore's highest-rated television drama in 15 years?- But otherwise, if you can fix those issues with the article there shouldn't be any issue with progressing this once a suitable hook is sorted. - Hi Turnagra, thanks for the detailed review.Regarding WP:UE, I have replaced the Chinese and Hokkien names with English names, and placed the Chinese names in brackets. Regarding the village 九条桥, unfortunately there is no English term for it, so I took the romanisation of the Hokkien name. I did a similar thing for 洪笛, using Hanyu Pinyin. For the uncited sentences, does it mean I need to add a citation at the end of every sentence? I’m not very familiar with how to cite, but I cited the parts you mentioned in a chunk, meaning that the content that falls after the last citation, all the way to the citation comes under the source cited. This might be wrong so I’ve added appropriate citations at the end of each sentence. Apart from that, I’ve added a citation and a new source to support the statement in the 4th para of 2006-present: Independent work. I hope the verifiability aspect of the article has been improved.Regarding novel and proses, it is in my plan to expand on this section for a potential GA. But at the present, I feel like it is too time-consuming to locate the various ancient sources. For the hook, I agree that it is quite long and complex. Your take on the hook is good, I feel like ALT1 is more concise and interesting. Maybe we can replace the hook with ALT1.--Infodump0 (talk) 02:34, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, happy with those changes. And yeah on the citing it may have been fine, but with a BLP it's better to err on the side of caution. I'll strike out the other hooks and
approve this based on ALT1. Turnagra (talk) 03:11, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
