Agreed. This implies consensus among journalists in an age of very partisan perspectives and smacks of the perspective of Andrew’s detractors. Wikipedia just isn’t the place for political spin zones. "Politics is downstream from culture" is not "Breitbart Doctrine". It's a Don Eberly quote.

Don Eberly, deputy director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives under George W. Bush, is quoted with coming up with that line back in 2001, the quote predating Breitbart News to which the "doctrine" is associated, by four years.

"The truth, as social commentator Don Eberly has rightly noted, is that “politics is downstream from the culture.”"

Breitbart might have stolen the quote and used it without attribution and may have even claimed he came up with it - but it is neither an original idea nor is it is his idea. ~2026-26824-65 (talk) 20:46, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
