Hi

In this "Amravati wikipedia" there was information regarding tourism, chikhaldara, melghat etc.(I think somebody has deleted it).I think Melghat, chikhaldara, salbardi are the part of Amravati district which attracts tourist/pilligrims and as torist visits these places which results into growth in revenue of district. Please mention the information regarding it so that whenever people read this wiki they would come to know the importance and place of city in Maharashtra.

Education section needs clean-up.

[edit]

Section Education is written as a advertisement/promotional material.
It needs to be re-written in neutral point of view.
I propose, section Education of this article be expanded as separate article.
Which should include sections for Primary Education, High School, and Higher education.

Removing freedom fighters

[edit]

I am removing freedom fighter's list. It's too long and not directly related to city. May be we may create another article like history of Amravati and add it there. Please revert if you think it is is necessary here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.162.23.77 (talk) 03:45, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Title change

[edit]

Title should be Amaravati, not Amravati. Can someone please change? the pronunciation is also wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:0:B580:831:1F2:7ECC:258A:77AF (talk) 03:49, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 12 May 2016

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Consensus shows that this shouldn't be moved because the spelling without the "a" primarily refers to this article. (non-admin closure) Anarchyte (work | talk) 04:39, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Merger of two pages

[edit]

Commencing. —usernamekiran (talk) 01:03, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

 Done —usernamekiran (talk) 01:19, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reasoning for merger

 • Both the pages regarding grounds which were merged in this article, were stub.
 • They were not just stubs, they were not even a big paragraph.
 • As the grounds do not have any other notable history than mentioned, and no bright future in near future, there is no need for them to have separate articles.
 • Based on aforementioned reasoning, the merger was obvious need, so I performed it "boldly". —usernamekiran (talk) 01:29, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Partly done: I've removed him from the list of notable people in this article, since there's no source cited and according to his article there is no scholarly consensus on what city he was born in or lived in. Day Creature (talk) 19:06, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 2 October 2026: add Media section

[edit]

The article has no section on local media. Please add the following new section directly above the "Notable people" section:

Media
Several daily newspapers are published from Amravati or produce local editions for the city. Dainik Hindusthan, a Marathi-language daily based in Amravati, was founded by Balkrishna Vishnu Marathe, also known as Balasaheb Marathe; it marked its 75th anniversary in 2024 with celebrations inaugurated by Union minister Nitin Gadkari. The Marathi dailies Lokmat and Deshonnati and the Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar publish Amravati editions.

Reason: Amravati has no Media section, and Dainik Hindusthan, a long-running Marathi daily based in the city, is not linked from the article. Other dailies with local editions are included for balance. For context, Dainik Hindusthan's founder Balasaheb Marathe was listed in this article under "Freedom fighters and patriots" until that subsection was removed without explanation on 29 June 2012 (Special:Diff/499854524).
