'Amotus longipennis': is that legitimate?

A quick search of Google Books suggests it has been around since about 1910 when it was described as a 'new species' in the Proceedings of the United States National Museum ("AMOTUS LONGIPENNIS, new species. Described from two specimens in the Hubbard and Schwarz collection from Kern County, California."). --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 23:25, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Amotus is the name of the genus; longipennis is New Latin from from longus (“long”) +‎ penna (“feather, fin, wing”) and in use in taxonomy for naming insects that presumably have long wings, e.g. Pachydiplax longipennis, a dragonfly; Minettia longipennis, a woodland fly; Strauzia longipennis, a fruit fly; Hippobosca longipennis, a louse fly. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 11:02, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
