Examples list

[edit]

I have deleted the examples list, because it did not have a single sourced entry, everything was someone's opinion that an item qualified as Americana, and the list of examples had become an indiscriminate list (most of the examples were added by anonymous IPs). I started over with a new list, and will only be adding sourced examples. Anything placed on this list that is not sourced to a reliable source that explicity says it is an example of Americana will be deleted. Mmyers1976 (talk) 14:42, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Well done. As you can see from the talk above this is an ongoing issue - in fact I'm inclined to think that having an examples list is just asking for all and sundry to chip in. Here's hoping you will be inspired to flesh out the article with some useful stuff. ProfDEH (talk) 09:07, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Americana

[edit]

What is happening with the rest of AMERICAN people ? For example canadian, argentinian, mexican and so on.... We should add references to this topic "americana" as bad topic and chauvinist topic for EEUU people. A criticism paragraph should be added explaining why AMERICA is not only EEUU and what all americans think about "americana culture" and EEUU appropiation of all cultures of the continent. This is the English wikipedia. In English America is synonymous with the United States of America. 2001:8003:2300:3401:302F:2A4A:F7DB:1575 (talk) 21:15, 23 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

– The form of culture is primary by longterm significance, despite the album matching it in pageviews and the film exceeding it. It is the genesis of the word Americana and what the musical genre's name is based on. Overall, it is simply more important from a historical perspective than any of the other potential primary topics. The most popular page is not always the primary topic, see apple for example. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 21:38, 29 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Support per long-term significance. The other subjects are very clearly named after this subject, and that itself (the fact that so many notable subjects are named after this subject) is a pretty strong indicator that this has the major long-term significance needed to be PTOPIC. Also, just like apple, this really feels like a common sense one. I think the vast majority of people would feel that it is obvious that the primary meaning of "Americana" is the cultural concept in the same way that it seems totally obvious that "apple" primarily refers to the fruit. ⹃Maltazarian parleyinvestigate 07:07, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
